Firstly, arrangements are being made to host the Council of Bishops of our Church, which is being convened from June 24th to July 1st, 2014. According to our Ruling Bishop’s Decree No5/2014 funds are being collected from every parish of the diocese based on the number of members in a respective community to help off-set the costs of hosting the Council. In addition, Archimandrite Nicholas (Olhovsky) will be consecrated to the episcopacy by the Council of Bishops during Divine Liturgy on Sunday June 29th.

In the upcoming, solemn days proceeding St. John’s Anniversary, simultaneously with the Council of Bishops, the XIII All-Diaspora Youth Conference will take place under the slogan In the Footsteps of Saint John from June 27th through July 4th. More than 120 young people have registered from our diocese, the entire Russian Diaspora and the Russian Federation as well. The youth conference will be dedicated to the radiant memory and holy labors of Saint John of Shanghai, and therefore will be devoted to missionary work in the field of philanthropy. The young pilgrims will visit various holy sites within the diocese, participate in the Divine Services of the 20th Anniversary and in workshops. There will be lectures and round-table discussions in which will be participating guest hierarchs from Russia. More information: here.

The newly formed diocesan journal “Spiritual Spring” is preparing its fourth and “special” issue devoted entirely to the memory of St. John. The expanded issue will incorporate some of the latest witnesses of miraculous intercession by the Saint that have never been published before. Within the rich content of this issue will also be included personal correspondence received from St. John's parents.

Currently, a commemorative medallion is being minted with an image of Saint John. The medallion will be blessed on his honorable relics and available for sale during the celebrations.
