Response to the Latest News about Opening Churches

On Friday May 22, 2020, the opening of churches within the United States, after  their closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was announced by President Donald Trump; the opening of houses of worship beginning this weekend.

The President’s statement is welcome as the faithful look forward to the possibility of returning to the usual rhythm of Church life through attendance at the Divine Services and participating in other parish activities.

However, for now the practices for the ministry of the faithful that have been worked out successfully and maintained by our clergy and their helpers over the past months in the monasteries and parishes of the Western American Diocese are to remain in effect as we await responses and Orders from our respective State and County Governments. Also, our churches need to receive the latest CDC Guidelines (Orders) prior to reopening.

Therefore, Decree No 6E/2020 shall remain in effect until further notice. We look forward to learning the reaction of our local governments and will adjust our Church life accordingly.

May God continue to bless and preserve the holy clergy and flock of the Western American Diocese and all the citizens of our country.
