A Golden Dome Now Caps the Kazan Church on the Russian River

In anticipation of impending Feast Day of the “Kazan” of the Mother of God on July 21 of this year, His Eminence KYRILL Archbishop of San Francisco and Western America arranged for the gilding of the cupola that crowns the Kazan Church along the Russian River in Guerneville, CA.

Artisan Valeriy Kagounkin of Sacramento, CA, labored for several days at the church setting up scaffolding, preparing the surface of the cupola and gilding it. The dome’s magnificent appearance uplifts the soul and brings joy the to the heart.

His Eminence has been overseeing many other new improvements to the buildings and landscape of the Kazan Church property. Everyone is welcome to observe these developments on Saturday July 24, the day the Kazan Feast Day will be observed. Archbishop Kyrill will preside. Hours begin at 8:40 am, Divine Liturgy from 9:00 am, procession and festal meal.
